Low sperm counts are a major reason behind many couple’s fertility struggles. If you haven’t already, it is worthwhile seeing a doctor to check for adequate levels of sperm especially if you have been struggling to conceive for a while. If the doctor says sperm is not the issue, then at least you know to cross it off the list. If you find out that sperm count is the problem, not to worry, there are plenty of things to try and remedy it. The very first thing that all men trying to conceive a baby should do is to stop drinking caffeine and its probably a good idea to test if there are deficiencies in the body such as zinc. Being deficient in certain minerals and vitamins can contribute to low sperm count. Smoking is also a sperm’s worst nightmare, and a big reason behind low sperm counts.

There is a certain position which can help the conception process. The missionary position is the position that is most likely to result in conception – I cannot go into the specifics of why here due to editorial guidelines, but our post of the same name is quite explicit.

The woman should lay in bed for around twenty minutes or so after having sex. It’s staying horizontal that is important, so no need for putting your feet in the air or anything like that. It is also important not to go to the toilet for at least twenty or thirty minutes after sex.

Using the basal body temperature recording methods for finding fertile times is actually a serious hindrance for getting pregnant, as the little known fact is that by the time a change in temperature is registered the egg is normally already dead. Most people (including many doctors) will tell you that one of the ways of finding out your fertile ‘window’ is through measuring you basal temperature. This is terribly misleading! There are many uses for testing basal temperature, but using it for testing fertility is just a waste of time.

A very accurate way to determine your most fertile time, and one of the fastest tips on how to conceive is to check and chart changes in your cervical fluid. The last day of the type of cervical fluid that looks like eggwhites is when you are most fertile – if you can’t determine an eggwhite mucus, then look for the wettest type of fluid, or a wet sensation.

Without a healthy diet and good exercise routine the chances of falling pregnant are even lower. Keeping your body healthy with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as exercise is vital when trying to conceive. It is common for people to forget about their diets and lifestyle when trying for a pregnancy, but remember that your body is not going to want to get pregnant if it cannot sustain a baby.

Just begin by taking note of your cervical mucus each day, and begin to determine where you are in you cycle. By keeping a record of the changes in your cervical mucus for a number of months you should be able to get a good understanding of your cycle and when your most fertile times are, this way you can have a much more accurate measure of when the best time to try for a baby is.
